CosciaMoos Architecture teamed with LW Design Group and Wimberly Interiors to renovate the lobby and restaurant of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

A fundamental challenge was to maintain the historic character of the space while inserting a modern and functional bar and show kitchen.

Pulling the bar off the back wall of the space provided additional challenges, as the bar sits atop a guastavino tile dome below, prohibiting any penetrations below the floor for sanitary lines. A wood-burning grill is housed behind glass and is visible from most seats in the restaurant. The ductwork for the new grill required careful threading through four floors of occupied spaces up to a low roof above. The hotel tower also underwent complete renovations for property improvement plan compliance. Rooms were upgraded for accessibility code compliance, and suites reconfigured to new arrangements. New finishes and furnishings were installed throughout the hotel’s rooms and corridors.
