The Clay Studio Breaks Ground on New Center

On January 15, 2020, The Clay Studio celebrated the groundbreaking of its new state-of-the-art ceramic facility in South Kensington. Coscia Moos Architecture Principal Sergio Coscia currently serves as the chair on the Board of Directors of The Clay Studio and kicked off the groundbreaking ceremony with the following opening remarks. “When we first thought of this project, we asked ourselves ‘Why would an organization that’s been successful for 45 years in Old City pick itself up and build a new four-story home right here at 1425 N American Street?’ The demand by artists and clay enthusiasts of all ages was exploding and we could clearly no longer meet the demand in our current building in Old City. We had expanded up and out as far as we could and now served over 40,000 people, a growth overall of more than 200% in classes. So we knew we had to serve more.”

The 34,000-foot-structure designed by Digsau will be completed in the Spring of 2021. To learn more about The Clay Studio and their vision for the future center, visit www.theclaystudio.org/campaign.
