Interior Designer


Job Description:

We are seeking an Interior Designer with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience. The position entails leading the interior design effort of interior architecture on projects. This includes development of client presentations and the production of construction documents. The designer is responsible for developing conceptual designs and coordinating with other disciplines in the production of construction documents.

Job Duties:

  • Schematic Design and Design Development
    • Conduct programming with clients
    • Work with the project manager and lead designer(s) in responding and creating designs that align with the client’s goals and aesthetics.
    • Develop code compliant designs
    • Select appropriate finish materials and furnishings
    • Prepare furniture budgets and specifications
    • Develop presentation materials including 3d renderings
    • Lead and participate in design presentations to the client
    • Collaborate with lighting designer to develop lighting concepts and initial fixture selection
    • Coordinate work with other disciplines
  • Construction Documents
    • Collaborate with the design team in articulating design principles
    • Preparing the construction documents and work with architecture and the engineering disciplines to ensure development of the project towards the design concepts established in earlier phases
    • Develop project and furniture specifications and other technical requirements of projects
  • Construction Administration
    • Prepare submittal responses, shop drawing review and construction site visits
    • Prepare interiors and furniture punch lists
  • Marketing
    • Assist the marketing department in the preparation of design documents and presentation materials
    • Participate in interviews for potential project work
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested
    • Mentor less experienced designers/interns
    • Material Library related tasks (conducting and scheduling rep appointments, staying relevant with new product, etc.)


Job Requirements:

Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience with interior design, some of which is in a specialized area (i.e. academics, science and technology, corporate, etc.). Specializing in Corporate and Hospitality projects preferred.
  • NCIDQ certification or architectural registration preferred
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Suite, 3D modeling software (SketchUp, etc.)
  • Can clearly communicate ideas through sketching, visualization, and construction documents.
  • Competency in ADA codes and understanding of Building codes
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and able to communicate clearly with them
  • Experience with client relationships and skills in client design meetings and presentations
  • Complete knowledge of interior architectural detailing
  • Comprehensive understanding of finish materials and their application
